I recently found the Nova Scotia Mining site and heard you singing with Rita MacNeil and as I sat here listening, tears were streaming down my face. I hope to someday get back to Nova Scotia to hear your group in person. My mother’s family of Leadbetter’s had a few ancestors who were miners, some in Springhill, others in Cape Breton (Wilsons). Loved your concert in January at Gulf Shores Al. I listen to one of your albums once a week. Our church choir is singing Rise Again Through the Voices of our Children on FAther’s Day if the SATB music gets here. I guess you give me a flavor of what it was like in my Grandfather’s time in Cape Breton. Gregory Moore was a miner in the late 1800’s. Hailed out of Sheet Harbour and ferried to the Island to mine at one time, then moved to Glace Bay and on to Montreal. Good men those miners.

Dear Men, I am one of your newest fans. My mom has had your tapes and CDís for years and I regretfully have never listened to them, till this year and now Iím IN LOVE. I had the privilege of seeing the Men of the Deeps perform in January at the Helen Stairs theatre in Sanford, Florida. I was so moved and so very impressed. The men came down from the back of the theatre singing and went on stage to perform. I had the biggest lump in my throat, I looked over at my mom and the tears were already flowing and I whispered to my girlfriend, I think Iím going to need a tissue. The performance was so beautiful that my mom and I called my brother and father to joins us for the evening performance. The both loved the performance, just as much as we did. I recently took my national boards for nursing in Orlando, Florida. I listened all the way to Orlando to the CD, ìThere lights will shine.î I thought it would calm my nerves and I would have a small piece of CB with me. I am so happy to say after 3 years at university and lots of studying the ìMenî helped me to pass my boards. Iím now a nurse. My wife and I attended your program Saturday, 1/26/08 in Queen Creek. We absolutely loved the music, stories and them members performance. Especially touching to my wife as her grandfather and before were miners in England and Wisconsin.
