My dad and granddads were all miners in Glace Bay, my dad worked in 1B for many years. I was born in Glace Bay but emigrated to the States with my folks when I was six. I cannot wait to go home and hear you sing at the Miners’ Museum! Although, I was only 6 when I left, I remember hearing the whistles go off when there was an accident in the mines, to this day I get chills when I hear of a mine accident! Well me boys! I hope that you made it back to the Cape safe and sound. You did a great job out here in the valley. The Atlas was a-buzz with activity today. A bunch of people that saw you perform yesterday decided to come and check out the mine. We have been hearing nothing but good comments…but then again – people know I luv ya – so they might not want to get smacked by saying otherwise! HA! Hope to see ya’ll back in the west in November. There’s unfinished business ya know — We were actually talking about getting the showers up and running in the washhouse this summer – so I’m still up for scrubbing backs! Tremendous performance in the outdoors at Drumheller, Alberta on Sunday,June 20, 2004. You guys just keep getting better. The response from the Alberta crowd was great and The Men of the Deeps only reinforce how proud we are to be Cape Bretoners and from Glace Bay to boot!! My wife and I had the pleasure of attending your concert in Crowsnest Pass on June 19, 2004. What a fantastic show! We really enjoyed your performance – thank you so much for coming to our commmunity. We hope that you can come again some day. After having seen your Choir on TV, it was great fun to see you live and have a chance to talk to you after the performance. The ‘Coal Miner’ community makes this country of ours seem rather small when we can enjoy eastern and western hospitality and music together.
